How the planning process works

Your Personalised NDIS Plan

The NDIS has been meticulously structured to deliver a more individual-focused modality in addressing the needs of people with disabilities. Its core objective is to promote empowerment among individuals with disabilities, by endowing them with the freedom of choice and enhanced control over their lives. The operational paradigm of the NDIS is composed of a sequence of procedural steps, each contributing to its holistic functionality. The system is fundamentally categorized into five integral components:

Follow the steps below:

Planning

This initial phase involves meeting with an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to discuss your goals, aspirations, and support requirements. Together, you will create a personalized plan that outlines the support and services you need to achieve your objectives.

Assessment

During this stage, a thorough assessment will determine your eligibility for the NDIS. This may involve gathering information from healthcare professionals, therapists, and other relevant sources to ascertain the impact of your disability on your daily life and functional capacity.

Funding

Once your plan is approved, you will receive funding from the NDIS to access the supports outlined in your plan. This funding is allocated based on your individual needs, goals, and the reasonable and necessary support required to enhance your independence and participation in the community.

Service Delivery

With your approved plan and allocated funding, you can access the services and supports identified in your NDIS plan. This may include therapies, assistive technology, personal care, or other supports tailored to your unique requirements. You can choose providers and manage your support according to your preferences.

Plan Reviews

Regular plan reviews are conducted to ensure your supports are meeting your needs effectively. These reviews allow for adjustments to your plan, ensuring it remains aligned with your evolving goals and requirements. During the review, you can discuss any changes or updates to your circumstances and goals.

Understand the NDIS

workings

The NDIS goes beyond mere service access; it revolutionises lives by placing choice and control firmly in the hands of individuals. With the number of eligible Australians steadily increasing, it’s evident that the demand for NDIS providers and services is soaring. An estimated 4.3 million individuals with disabilities reside in the country, underscoring the critical need for NDIS support within the community.

At its core, the NDIS empowers people with disabilities to lead the lives they aspire to. It is centred around enabling individuals to pursue their unique paths to independence and fulfilment, tailored to their specific preferences and circumstances. Whether it involves fostering independent living arrangements, supporting individuals within their family or social networks, or exploring alternative avenues, the NDIS stands committed to facilitating the chosen life journeys of its participants.

By embracing a person-centric approach, the NDIS recognises that each individual’s aspirations and capabilities are distinct. It champions the belief that people with disabilities deserve the freedom to define their paths and actively participate in society on their terms. Through its empowering principles, the NDIS strives to create a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
